Two members of Hendrick Hudson High School’s PRISM club were invited to participate in the January 20 swearing-in ceremony for NYS Assemblywoman Dana Levenberg. Levenberg is taking the assembly seat vacated by Sandy Galef.
During the weeks before and after Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Furnace Woods students took part in a Kindness and Justice Challenge. The fourth and fifth graders came up with 1,500 reasons to be kind, and they are now on display in the school’s main hallway, as a rainbow-hued “Hall of Kindness.”
The Office of the NY State Comptroller uses an annual Fiscal Stress Monitoring System to determine whether a school district is generating enough revenue to meet its expenditures. The Comptroller’s office recently released its results for 2022, and the Hendrick Hudson School District fared very well, receiving the optimal classification (No Designation) for both Fiscal and Environmental stress.
As far as creativity goes, the sky was the limit for Furnace Woods fourth graders when they embarked on a collaborative project connecting all of the school’s Specials classes: STEM, Art, Music and Physical Education.
Gatorade has announced that Hen Hud's Amya Davis is the 2022-23 Gatorade New York Volleyball Player of the Year. The award distinguishes Amya as New York’s best high school volleyball player and makes Amya a a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Volleyball Player of the Year award to be announced in January

For a group of Blue Mountain Middle School eighth graders who are passionate about art, a recent visit to Hendrick Hudson High School provided an exciting peek into the many creativity-filled opportunities in store for them next year.
While Hendrick Hudson Community Educational Foundation (HHCEF) grants typically enrich student learning right here in the district, a recent donation is providing an educational lifeline to students at a secondary school thousands of miles away, in war-torn Ukraine.

Project Lead the Way Principles of Engineering students took a field trip to the CertainTeed Dry Wall manufacturing plant in Buchanan. CertainTeed is one of the newer members of the PLTW Community Partnership Team, and it provided students with an interesting and valuable experience.
Superintendent Joseph Hochreiter recently sat down with local realtor and Hen Hud parent Don Dwyer to discuss real estate trends. Over the past five years, the two have met periodically to go over facts and figures related to the local housing market. This time, Dwyer focused on larger economic trends along with some details about the Westchester market.
Big congratulations to senior Amya, Davis, Hen Hud's volleyball standout, who was named the 2022 LoHud Westchester/Putnam Player of the Year.
