About Your Teacher

  • Mr. Zollner:  Bio    September 2019

    Mr. Zollner is an experienced engineer and physics teacher who has lived most of his life in the Mid-Hudson Valley.  After High School he immediately pursued a career in Mechanical Engineering.  He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he earned his  B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and worked for a structural engineering firm as an undergraduate.  Mr. Zollner went on to earn an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin - Madison where his research led him to develop computer simulations in Solar Energy Engineering.

                     For over 20 years Mr. Zollner enjoyed a career in industry as a Manufacturing Process Engineer, working with diverse teams of people on a wide range of engineering challenges transferring state-of-the-art manufacturing processes into production. As a Senior Engineer, Mr. Zollner also ran educational programs in industry, earned several patents and published technical articles.

                    In 2007, Mr. Zollner chose to pursue his love for teaching by taking advantage of a nationally competitive Transition-to-Teaching program and returned to school to pursue a career in Physics Education. He received an M.S. in Adolescence Education - Physics from Mount Saint Mary College, and continued to pursue his interest in Physics education at a number of other colleges.  This is Mr. Zollner's 10th year teaching physics and his 6th year at Hendrick Hudson School District.  Mr. Zollner is also certified in the Project Lead The Way curricula for Principles of Engineering,  Aerospace Engineering and Digital Electronics. He is excited to be teaching these courses at HenHud while sharing his background in Engineering with students participating in the PLTW-Engineering program. 

           Mr. Zollner and his family are active volunteers in the Hudson Valley community.  He is a member of the American Association of Physics Teachers, the American Modeling Teachers Association, the National Science Teachers Association, STEMteachersNYC, and in 2018 was named a New York State Master Teacher Fellow - Mid Hudson Region.  Mr. Zollner has a passion for teaching Physics and has been delighted to be a member of the Hendrick Hudson teaching and learning community.
