Meet Mrs. Risole
I thought it would be really neat to have a little section about myself. Since the children share so much about themselves and their families with me, I thought I'd share a little bit about myself with the families and children in my class.
A little of this and that...
My name is Mrs. Janine Risole (the teacher formerly known as Ms. Hafemann). This is my 17th year teaching! I taught Kindergarten and 1st grade in Mahopac for 3 years before making my home at Frank G. Lindsey in 2006. I taught Kindergarten the first year I was here and first grade from 2007-2009. I loved teaching 3rd grade from 2009-2013 also but when a reading job popped up, I jumped at the opportunity! I taught reading for 3 years but I always missed having my own class. Last year, I made the switch back to Kindergarten and I have loved every minute of it! I look forward to all of the exciting adventures we are about to take with each other this year.
I live in Hopewell Junction, NY with my son, Brayden, my husband, Frank, my two shih tzu puppies named Carrie and Big and my rescue puppy, Jeter, that we adopted in February of 2015 and another rescue puppy, Mo that we just couldn't resist in February of 2016. Brayden's birthday is August 28 ,2011 which makes him 4 years old. Carrie and Big were born in February of 2008 and Jeter's birthday is December 8, 2014 and Mo's birthday is March 14, 2015. They get along with Brayden great, especially when he gives them some of his cereal! Mo and Jeter are named after mommy's favorite baseball players, Mariano Rivera and Derek Jeter.
In my spare time I think my most favorite thing to do of all is bake. I LOVE to bake. You name it, I bake it: cookies, cake, pies....yum yum. Christmas is my most favorite holiday not only because I get to bake tons and tons of cookies but because I love hearing the children talk about their holiday traditions and watch their faces light up as Hanukkah or Christmas approaches. I also absolutely love dancing, singing, crafting and spending time with family and friends. I enjoy reading, writing in my journal, going to the beach, and cooking.
Some words to describe me are friendly, hard working, enthusiastic, excited, eager to learn, organized (with most things), and motivating! I expect a lot from my students and want them to have a positive attitude towards learning. I hope they will be responsible to not only their work but for their actions as well. I expect them to be organized with their belongings and will always give 100% effort.

Teaching is the love of my life. I can't imagine doing anything else. The quote above reminds me how lucky I was to have a teacher in High School INSPIRE me to be what and who I am today. Mr. Lindner was and always will be my favorite teacher of all time. He instilled a confidence in my abilities that no other teacher was ever able to do. He pushed me to do my best and always held high expectations. I am truly thankful to have had him as my teacher for two years in a row. My one wish is to one day have a student come back and tell me that I have done the same for him or her.
Thanks for reading!
