Hi! I'm Ms. Filatov and I am the Band Director at Blue Mountain Middle School. This is my fifth year at BMMS and I am very excited to work with such amazing students to make music!

Many years ago, I started playing the clarinet and I fell in love with band. Since then I have not stopped learning about music or playing music. I have Bachelors degrees from Ithaca College in Music Education and Clarinet Performance and my Masters degree in Music Education from Boston University. I am very excited to teach my students about the many aspects and perspectives of music through the practice and performance of our band music as well as the exploration of popular musics.

Outside of my classroom, I enjoy running, art, reading and watching shows & movies! My favorite concert band piece is the First Suite in Eb by Gustav Holst; my favorite musicians are Phoebe Bridgers, Lake Street Dive, and Mac Miller; my favorite book is All the Light We Cannot See; and my favorite TV shows at the moment are Game of Thrones, Avatar the Last Airbender, and One Piece!
