  • Girls Basketball Team Heads to Westchester County Center

    On Wednesday, February 26, the Hendrick Hudson girls basketball team won a Sectional Quarterfinal game over crosstown rival Walter Panas, 44-30, to qualify for the Section One Final Four at the Westchester County Center. The semifinal appearance is the first for the team since 2005.

  • Senior Wrestler Qualifies for New York State Championships

    Hen Hud senior wrestler Beckett Herman has qualified for the New York State Wrestling Championships, taking place on February 28, 2020 at the Times Union Center in Albany. Herman heads up to Albany as the all-time career wins leader in Hendrick Hudson wrestling history.

  • B-V Students Celebrate Lincoln’s Visit to Peekskill

    In what has become a beloved annual tradition, Buchanan-Verplanck students bundled up on a cold February morning and headed to Peekskill, to celebrate Abraham Lincoln’s historic “whistle stop” in the Hudson River community on February 19, 1861. Their destination: the Lincoln Exedra on Peekskill’s South Street.

  • Hen Hud Senior James Reilly Named National Merit Scholarship Finalist

    Congratulations to senior James Reilly, who has been named a National Merit Scholarship Finalist. Approximately 15,000 semifinalists have advanced to Finalist standing, and over the next few months, approximately half of the finalists will be selected to receive a National Merit Scholarship in the amount of $2,500.

  • Calling for Public Support to Amend Funding Mechanism, as Indian Point Closure Nears

    New York State currently manages a Cessation Fund specifically designed to replace tax revenue loss in communities and school districts where a power plant has closed. While the Hendrick Hudson School District is eligible to receive funds from this source after Indian Point closes, the Cessation Fund’s current balance is not enough to meet the district’s needs.   • Garrison Program Pairs AP Art Students with Professional Artists

    AP Art students Dana Ho and Emma Gormley have been participating in the Garrison Art Center's "Mentor Program" in which they are paired with professional artists and work one-on-one developing their portfolio work. Dana Ho has been working with T. Charnan Lewis and Emma Gormley has been working with Linda Barboni.

    Frank G. Lindsey’s Go Red celebration capped a week of activities in the school aimed at raising funds for, and awareness of, heart health. Proceeds from the school’s fundraising activities go to the American Heart Association.

  • Sophomore Yanni Schattman Wins Section 1 Diving Championship for Second Straight Year

    On February 6, Hendrick Hudson sophomore Ioannis (Yanni) Schattman won the Section 1 Diving Championship, held at SUNY Purchase. Yanni defended his title, which he earned as a freshman. The accomplished diver has been a top finisher at the Section 1 Championships since arriving on the scene as an eighth grader.

  • Artist Shares Message of Positivity with Students

    New York City-based muralist Jason Naylor visited Frank G. Lindsey and shared the positive messages that feature prominently in his unique artwork. Using spray paint as his medium, Naylor strives to create art that makes people happy. He painted a large colorful heart for the students and answered many of their questions, such as how he knew he wanted to be an artist.

  • Senior Wrestler Becomes All-Time Career Winner

    On January 24, Hen Hud senior wrestler Beckett Herman won his 130th career match. This victory put him at the top of the list for career wins in the school’s wrestling history. “Beckett is one in a million, the kind of athlete every coach dreams of having on their team,” said Head Coach Shane Turrone.
