Superintendent Joseph Hochreiter recently chatted with two cast members from Hendrick Hudson High School’s upcoming fall drama, “She Kills Monsters,” seniors Jessica Goetchius and Hadyn Gelman.
The play is about a young woman’s journey of discovery following the tragic death of her younger sister. The story focuses on her discovery and exploration of her deceased sister’s world of online fantasy gaming.
While the play is a fantasy adventure, it is also a “heartwarming story about family and relationships and finding out what’s true to you,” said Hadyn.
While theater has been an integral part of both students’ lives (Jessica started performing drama in third grade, and Hayden has been involved in theater for most of her life), both have plans to pursue very different paths at college. Hayden hopes to become a veterinarian and Jessica plans to study school psychology. Both agree, however, that drama and theater will always be an important part of their lives.
The play will be performed on Friday and Saturday, November 22 and 23, at 7:30 p.m. and is for mature audiences, due to strong language and adult themes. Tickets will be available at the door: $10 students/senior citizens and $15 adults.
