Senior Caitlin Weimar Named Con Edison Athlete of the Week
Basketball and volleyball standout Caitlin Weimar has been named a Con Edison Athlete of the week for her accomplishments on the court, in the classroom and in the community. Her achievements in basketball have “placed her as the greatest girls basketball player in Hendrick Hudson history,” according to Athletic Director Tom Baker.
Caitlin is a five-year varsity basketball player and four-year varsity volleyball player. As a junior, Caitlin scored her 1000th point in basketball and became the fifth girl in the history of Hendrick Hudson to score 1000 points. Additionally, she is currently coming up on 1000 rebounds.
In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Caitlin excels in the classroom, having earning High Honor Roll 11 out of 12 quarters. She has also lent her talents to a variety of community service activities, such as the Leos Club, Relay for Life and the middle school’s Memorial Garden. Caitlin has also spoken to elementary students on the topic of bullying.
Numerous Division 1 schools had Caitlin in their sights for both basketball and volleyball, and she recently signed a Letter of Intent to play basketball at Marist College next year.
“Caitlin has been a tremendous ambassador of our athletic program and will be sorely missed in our school district,” said Baker. “She has matured into a leader of our school and is a wonderful role model.”
