Hendrick Hudson High School Senior James Reilly has been named a Con Edison Athlete of the week for outstanding athletic and academic accomplishments, as well as leadership qualities and a commitment to community service.
James has served as captain of the Cross Country, Indoor Track and Field, and Spring Track and Field teams. He has been ranked the #1 pole vaulter in the county, #7 in the long jump and is in the top 10 for the 55m hurdles. He has been named All League Winter and Spring Track nine times and All League Honorable Mention an additional six times.
James is a National Merit Semi-finalist, an AP Scholar with Honor, has been on the high honor roll every marking period, and has been a New York Scholar Athlete every season.
For two years, he has been the President of the Hen Hud Leos, working with children and teens with neurological disorders and disabilities. In 2019, he served as the President of the Organizing Board for “Play for Life,” a community-wide cancer fundraiser. James has also been a key member of the high school’s Green Team, working on the campus garden, recycling projects, and leading a group that created a rainwater collection system for the garden.
James was recruited by Johns Hopkins University where he will pursue a major in Biology with a focus on pre-med and research, and he will continue his track and field career as a multi-event (decathlon) specialist.
